In my middle school era, the 1980's, I listened to music on a cassette tape. I used a portable recorder called a Walkman which was usually made by Sony to play my cassette tapes on. Since the use of cassette tapes and players declined the 1990's introduced Compact Disc's (CD's). Music was recorded digitally on a CD and played through a CD player.
As of now, 2013, I have a child in middle school and when asked, a few moments ago, what is a cassette player, his response was, "What"? So he doesn't even know what a cassette player is. His generation has gone from listening to music on Music Player Expert Layer 3 (MP3), Ipods and now just their cell phones and computers through applications!
